Our History

Woods Fletcher and Associates was formed in September 2011 following the merger of Rowland Woods Legal and Fletcherlegal. Since then the firm has delivered consistently high quality results for its clients on an array of complex issues.

Who We Are

Woods Fletcher specialises in public law, immigration law, employment law, entertainment law, and dispute resolution. For example, our legal team assists clients to obtain New Zealand residence and work permits, and to deal with issues and resolve disputes in a wide range of legal contexts. We pride ourselves on offering an excellent standard of client care and assistance; If your legal inquiry is outside of our areas of expertise we have a network of colleagues who can assist.

Richard Fletcher

Principal

BA, LLB (Auckland 1979); LLM (Public Law) (Auckland 2009)

Richard is the principal of Woods Fletcher & Associates with a specialist focus on dispute resolution, public, employment and entertainment law. Prior to entering the profession 17 years ago, Richard spent two decades working in the media – including for Radio New Zealand and in the Parliamentary Press Gallery for the “National Business Review”. Richard contributes regularly to a range of publications on legal issues. He has appeared in a range of courts and tribunals over the years, including the Court of Appeal, High Court, and Employment and Environment Courts. He has negotiated settlements in major commercial, public and employment disputes, in some cases involving millions of dollars. In his spare time, Richard indulges his wide range of musical tastes with a bit of guitar playing and sound system restoration. He also enjoys collecting furniture and having a quiet drink with friends and family.

 

Lucas Davies

Associate

Originally from Mount Maunganui, Lucas completed his Bachelor of Laws at Victoria University in 2016.  Lucas enjoys chess, reading, dancing, playing squash, and debating with his friends over a beer.

 

Taran Molloy

Clerk

Wellington-born and raised, Taran started his degree at Victoria University in 2016 and is currently working towards a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations. Outside of studies and work, his hobbies include good books, good coffee, and involvement with the Victoria Debating Society.
